The blower motor is a central part of your car’s heating and cooling system, drawing air in and forcing it through the heater core or air conditioning evaporator core to heat or cool the air in your car. The blower motor is electric, with a resistor-driven variable speed control. If the air conditioning or heat in your car is not pushing any air at all, the blower motor may have failed. Buy a new motor from an auto-parts retailer.
Raise the hood of your Dodge Stratus. Use a wrench to loosen and remove the negative battery cable.
Pull the lower dashboard cover off the dash on the passenger side. Grasp the cover beneath the passenger side of the dashboard and pull it free of the clips securing it.
Pull the wiring harness connection off the plug on the blower motor by pulling it straight back toward the passenger compartment. Remove the three screws securing the blower motor to the mounting bracket with a Phillips screwdriver.
Tilt the blower motor sideways as needed to remove the blower motor from the mounting area. Insert the new blower motor in the same alignment as the one you removed. Secure the motor with the three retaining screws and tighten them with a Phillips screwdriver.
Push the wiring harness connection back into place on the new blower motor. Press the lower dashboard cover back into place until it clicks. Attach the negative battery cable, tightening it with a wrench. Close the hood of your Stratus.
