Fixing the windshield wipers on a 2003 Pontiac Bonneville is a fairly easy and economical do-it-yourself repair that will save you a few dollars. Three basic repairs can be made the windshield wipers on a 2003 Bonneville: fuse repair; wiper linkage repair and wiper replacement. All repairs require a minimal amount of time and effort. Furthermore, all repairs are inexpensive to make.

Things You'll Need

  • Needle-nose pliers
  • Replacement blades
  • Replacement fuse (20 amp)
  • Locate the fuse box on the Bonneville. It is located to the left of the steering wheel on the underside of the dashboard.

  • Pull the fuse box cover, to expose the fuses.

  • Use the back side of the fuse box cover to see the layout of the fuses and the functions they control. The fuse diagram of the Bonneville will tell you a 20 amp fuse is needed and will show you the exact location. Pull the old fuse, using the needle-nose pliers, and place the new fuse in. If the power to the wipers still does not work, proceed to the next step.

  • Remove the screen at the base of your 2003 Bonneville's windshield, at the top of your hood. Look carefully for the wiper linkage. It basically looks like two loose wires with plastic joints at the end if it is disconnected. Snap the two joints back together and replace the screen cover. If your wiper blades merely are not cleaning well, move to next step.

  • Pull the wiper arm into upright position. Using the needle-nose pliers, squeeze clasps on each side and slide the old wiper blades out. Slip the new wiper blades into position.
