How to Change a Toyota Supra Fuel Pump

Fuel pumps, especially in Toyota Supras, tend to go out occasionally. So, rather than spend hundreds of dollars to have a shop replace the pump for your, why not buy the pump yourself and replace it? The process is quite simple and not very time consuming.

Things You'll Need

  • Standard tool kit Replacement fuel pump

Instructions

  • Pull the Supra up on blocks. Make sure to activate the parking brake.

  • Slide under the vehicle and locate the fuel pump. It is found under the driver side section of the car and looks much different than the parts around it.

  • Once you have located the fuel pump, begin removing it by unplugging the electrical conduit from the back of it. To do this, simply lift up on the plug and pull it out.

  • Use an open-end wrench to loosen both sides of the pump. Then, slide the fuel pump away from its connection ends. Fuel will begin to drain out of the input hose. Cover this with your finger until the next step.

  • Insert your replacement fuel pump into the opening. Tighten the input side, then the output side with the same open-end wrench.

  • Plug in the conduit once again.

  • Deactivate the parking brake. Remove the Toyota Supra from its blocks, it's ready to roll..
