Kicker produces subwoofer speakers that are known as some of the best-sounding and most reliable subs on the market. They are big, loud and deep. A set of Kicker subwoofer speakers are dedicated only to the bass sounds of music. Installing a pair of Kicker subs can be time consuming and pricey. Many audio installers charge hundreds of dollars for installation service and may need to keep the vehicle for a full day. Avoid spending too much time and money by installing the subs yourself.
Set the sub box where it will sit when installed. Measure the distance between the stereo outputs of the open channel on the amplifier and the stereo inputs on the back of the subwoofers so that speaker cables will be long enough.
Cut two speaker cables long enough to reach from the output of the amplifier to the input of both subwoofers. Strip the ends of the cables with a pair of wire cutters until there is about one inch of bare wire showing at the end of each cable.
Open the positive wire clamp on the back of one of the subwoofers by pressing the red plastic tab above it. Slide the bare wire end of the positive wire (usually black) of one of the speaker cables into the clamp, then release the plastic tab. The clamp closes and holds the cable in place. Attach the negative wire (usually clear or white) to the negative wire clamp by pressing on the black tab.
Repeat the previous procedure to attach the positive and negative wires of the second speaker cable to the second subwoofer. Note the color and markings of each cable.
Twist the ends of the two positive wires together by hand. Twist the two ends of the two negative wires together in the same way. Loosen the positive (+) terminal of the open channel on the amp with a Phillips-head screwdriver. Slide the twisted positive wires into the terminal, then tighten the terminal to hold them in place. Repeat this procedure to attach the negative wires to the negative terminal.
