How to Take the CD Player Out of a 2006 Dodge Stratus

Between 2001 and 2006, the Dodge Stratus and Chrysler Sebring were built on the same assembly line and shared most of the same components, including the factory CD player. Taking the CD player out of your 2006 Dodge Stratus allows you to install a new one, or perhaps make other modifications to the vehicle. The Stratus has a simple radio setup; only one panel separates you from the radio mounting screws.

Things You'll Need

  • Pliers
  • Phillips screwdriver
  • Loosen the nut around the negative battery cable (--), and then pull it away from the battery terminal. This will prevent shock when handling the wiring components.

  • Remove the two Phillips screws beneath the A/C control panel (fan speed, temperature, etc.). Once the screws are out, grasp the plastic trim with your hands and pull it off (it extends below the CD player).

  • Unplug the harness behind the A/C control panel. Set the trim and A/C control panel to the side.

  • Remove the four Phillips screws from the corners of the radio. Once the screws are out, pull the CD player away from its mount. Unplug the antenna and wiring harness behind it.
