One of the best ways to improve the sound of a car audio system is to replace the original car speakers with higher performance aftermarket car audio speakers. While it may seem intimidating to disassemble interior parts, panels and trim to install new speakers, if you have the right directions, it's a job that's well within the grasp of the average car owner.
Pull up and remove the bottom seat cushion by pulling out the plastic rings under the front edges of the cushion while lifting the cushion up.
Remove two 12-mm bolts and a 12-mm nut from the lower edge of the seat back cushion. Fold the seat back down, and remove two 12-mm bolts at each side of the deck edge trim.
Pry off the cover over the seat latch that was exposed when you folded down the seat.
Pry the pillar trimpanels from the top and lift them up and out to remove them when they're loose.
Pry up the trim ring around the rear deck lock, and then work your hand under the rear deck panel to release two plastic retaining clips. Disconnect the brake light bulb assembly by twisting it counter clockwise and pull it out.
Slide the rear deck panel forward to move it out of the way.
Undo four 8-mm screws to release each speaker. Pull the speakers up and out of the deck and unplug the wiring plugs.
Clip the wiring plugs off with a pair of wirecutters, and crimp the slide connectors onto the bare wire ends with a crimp tool.
Connect the slide connectors to your new speakers, place the speakers in the openings, and screw them into place with the 8-mm screws.
Reassemble the deck and trim by reversing the previous steps.
