How to Remove an Alpine Car Stereo

Alpine audio makes premium car audio equipment. Their stereos are known as some of the best in the world. However, as with all manufactures, they offer low-end models and premium models. If you would like to replace a low-end model with a premium model, or if your Alpine stereo is malfunctioning, you'll need to know how to remove an Alpine car Stereo to install a new one.

Things You'll Need

  • Socket wrench with socket set Flat tip screwdriver Phillips head screwdriver Clean rag
  • Remove the cable from the negative battery terminal by turning the retaining nut on the cable clamp counterclockwise with a socket wrench until the clamp is loose enough for you to pull the clamp off the negative battery terminal.

  • Place a clean rag over the tip of the flat tip screwdriver and pry up on the bezel surrounding your vehicle's stereo module. Typically, there are several clips that hold the bezel in place. You may need to work your way around the outside of the bezel to pry up all of the clips.

  • Remove the screws holding the Alpine stereo in place.

  • Pull the Alpine stereo straight out of the dash and locate the electrical connector in the back of the stereo head unit.

  • Push down on the plug retaining clip and pull the electrical connector out of the back of the stereo.
