The Hyundai Santa Fe is a popular SUV and aftermarket parts are readily available. Installing a new stereo in a Hyundai Santa Fe gives you improved sound and additional options like subwoofers and navigation. Replacing the stereo takes about an hour and is the same process on all model years through 2008.
Disconnect the negative cable from the battery terminal. Position the cable to is doesn't come in contact with any metal parts.
Pull out the ashtray and remove the two screws that connect the bezel around the radio. Pull off the climate control knobs and remove the two screws at the top of the bezel trim.
Remove the trim and disconnecting any wires. Not all models will have connecting wires on the trim.
Locate the two screws, one on each side of the Hyundai Santa Fe stereo, and pull the head unit out of the dash. Disconnect the wires behind the radio and set it aside.
Connect the wiring harness adaptor to the original wiring harness. Secure the new stereo into the Hyundai radio mounting kit and plug the antenna wire and wiring harness adaptor to the back of the stereo.
Slide the entire assembly into the dash and reconnect the negative battery cable. Turn on the radio and test the speakers and controls. Connect any wires onto the bezel and secure it to the dash.
