How to Clean a Fram AirHog Filter

Fram AirHog high-performance air filters are compatible with a ride range of vehicles. Fram recommends inspecting the air filter at least every 6 to 12 months to see if it should be cleaned. More frequent inspection is needed if the vehicle is often driven in dusty conditions.

Things You'll Need

  • Fram AirHog filter cleaner
  • Tap water
  • Remove the filter from the air filter compartment.

  • Tap the AirHog filter against a hard, flat surface to loosen debris and dirt.

  • Set the filter in an open area on a flat surface. Spray AirHog filter cleaner on both sides of the filter. Let the filter rest for at least 10 minutes so the cleaner can soak in.

  • Rinse the filter with cool water. Make sure the water runs from the clean side to the dirty side so the clean side is not contaminated. Let the filter air dry completely before replacing it in the vehicle.
