How to Disconnect an Automate AM5 Car Alarm

The AM5 is a car alarm brand that can be used on a variety of different vehicles. This alarm system is installed just below the steering column in the dashboard and is controlled with a wireless and hand-held remote. If your remote stops working, or if the system is malfunctioning, you can disconnect the system from this module in just minutes -- no professional experience required.

  • Enter your car and remove the dashboard panels underneath the steering column. Do this with a flat blade such as a knife and use the blade to pop the panels off. Afterward, they can be easily popped back in.

  • Locate the wire on the alarm system that is connected to your car's positive battery terminal. This will likely be indicated by a "+" next to the wire input.

  • Disconnect this wire to disable the alarm. Return the dashboard panels to use your car as normal.
