Carter Fuel Pump Specifications

Carter is a brand of the Federal-Mogul Corporation. The brand has a line of product for aftermarket fuel pumps and accessories that replace original equipment. The company offers mechanical fuel pumps, universal electronic fuel pumps and high performance fuel pumps.

Mechanical Fuel Pumps

  • Carter manufactures die-cast aluminum pumps, billet aluminum racing pumps and stamped steel fuel pumps. Some of the oldest fuel pumps are die-cast aluminum pumps. The stamped steel fuel pump handles vapors well. The fuel pump has a high capacity because of the large diameter diaphragm. The polished billet aluminum fuel pumps feature full flowing valves, anti-float springs and levers. The manufacturer designs the fuel pumps for original machinery and equipment for marine, domestic, automobile and industrial manufactures. The piston-type mechanical fuel pump removes "the need for amp draw on the engine’s electrical system," according to the Federal-Mogul Corporation.

Universal Electric Fuel Pumps

  • Solenoid fuel pumps fit most automobiles and the units are small in stature. Use the solenoid in six, 12 and 24-volt equipment. Electromagnetic coils produce fuel pressure and surges.

The brush type electric fuel pumps come in a variety of designs, including rotary vane, turbine, gerotor, roller vane and impeller. The pumps offer inline, in-tank placement and can incorporate with filter constructions.

Brushless electric fuel pumps do not touch the commutator, which is the electrical switch or generator on an electric motor. The brushless pump can sit in equipment via inline, in-tank or among the filter.

High-Performance Fuel Pump

  • The high-performance fuel pumps work with racing and performance vehicles in either electronic or mechanical specifications. The fuel pumps keeps working at the speed your vehicle desires.
