How to Make My Headlight Blue

To customize your car based on the style or color, you may choose to make the headlight blue. Your budget, as well as the laws in your state, may determine the viability and cost of this change. Change the headlight either by purchasing film that adheres to the headlight or purchasing a headlight lamp that comes in an electric blue color.

Blue Headlight Film

  • Purchase blue headlight film from an auto supply store. Headlight film is a clear plastic material that will cover your headlights seamlessly.

  • Clean the entire headlight with water and ensure it is completely dry. Finish this project on a warm day or use a hair dryer to warm the headlights because the film should be installed while the headlights are warm.

  • Remove the film, spray the adhesive side with water and carefully adhere the blue film to the headlight. Spray water over the film and use a squeegee to remove any air bubbles over the headlight to ensure that the surface is clear and smooth.

  • Use scissors or a razorblade to remove any excess film and use a dry cloth or hair dryer to dry any excess water so that the film dries over the headlight.

Headlight Bulb

  • Purchase a blue headlight bulb from an auto supply store. Some headlight lamps will come in a color called electric blue, which appears to be white but looks light blue when illuminated at night. Compare your car's current headlight bulb to the blue headlight bulb when you make the purchase to ensure that they match.

  • Remove the headlight based on the specifications of your automobile. Refer to your owner's manual before attempting to change the bulb because each car has different methods for removing the headlamp. Many manuals suggest that you disconnect the battery terminals from the battery before installing headlights to protect you and the car's electrical system.

  • Install the headlight bulb by removing the headlight covering for the bulb and carefully inserting the new blue headlight bulb where the previous bulb was located. Try not to touch the glass portion of the bulb with your bare fingers to prevent oil or dirt from getting on the bulb. Some manuals suggest that you use gloves when inserting the headlight bulb.
