How to Program a Mitsubishi Eclipse Remote

The Mitsubishi Eclipse offers most of the best of the manufacturer's simple technologies and capabilities, including keyless entry remote systems. These remotes can be kept on your keychain and can be used to access your door locks, trunk locks, and panic alarm. Once programmed, you can use your remotes as far away as a couple hundred feet, and you can program additional remotes for the rest of your family.

Things You'll Need

  • Jumper wires
  • Find the data port under your driver's side dashboard. You can find this by removing the paneling on the right side of the steering wheel. The port is a small black box with eight terminals on either side. Use the jumper wires to connect the number 1 and number 4 terminals on the port by closing the jumper wire prongs on both the 1 and 4 terminals.

  • Press the Hazard button on your car six times within the next ten seconds and wait for the door locks to automatically click.

  • Press the Lock button on your keyless remote three times within the next ten seconds and wait for the locks to click again.

  • Repeat the previous step with any additional remotes, pressing the lock button three times on each remote, doing it within ten seconds of the previous remote and waiting for the locks to click each time.

  • Disconnect the jumper wires to end the sequence.
