Cold air intakes increase a vehicle's horsepower, throttle response and gas mileage. Each cold air intake is specifically built for the car it is installed on as the intake is positioned in an area free of obstruction in the engine compartment (which varies from vehicle to vehicle). For that reason, many car enthusiasts make their own cold air intake materials. Thankfully, these are easy to find and inexpensive.
Use the copper tubing to trace the path you will want the new intake tube to utilize. The tubing is easy to bend and light, making it easy to work with.
Use the 3-inch exhaust pipe as the intake tubing. Have a muffler shop bend the tubing to match the form you made from the copper pipe. This way, when you install the intake tubing, it will fit right in place.
Slide the cone filter onto the end of the intake tubing and secure the entire apparatus with the hose clamps. All that is left to do now is to remove the old filter as you have gathered all of the materials to make your own cold air intake.
