How to Debadge a Nissan Titan

The Nissan Titan comes with several badges. On the tailgate you'll find a "Nissan" badge as well as a "Titan" badge. On either front door you'll find a "V8 Titan" badge. If you prefer your Titan to have a cleaner look, you may consider removing its factory badges, a process known as debadging. The Titan's badges affix to the vehicle with a simple adhesive. You can heat the adhesive and simply peel them off.

Things You'll Need

  • Hair dryer
  • Extension cord
  • Plastic trim stick or flat bladed tool covered with masking tape
  • Adhesive or tar remover safe for automobile paint
  • Rag
  • Turn off the Titan's engine. Grab your hair dryer and a plastic trim stick or a blade covered with masking tape for protection. Run an extension cord into an electrical outlet and plug the hair dryer in. Approach the driver side badge and bend or sit down to be level with it.

  • Turn the hair dryer on low heat and blow the air onto the badge for three to five minutes. Keep the hair dryer at least six inches away from the badge.

  • Pry the edges of the badge gently with the tool. You'll feel the badge start to come off. Continue prying and then pull the badge off completely.

  • Move to the passenger side door badge and repeat the process.

  • Move to the tailgate badge and repeat the process. Apply a small bit of adhesive or tar remover to a rag and wipe the debadged areas to remove the sticky residue.
