Does a 2000 Honda Accord Have an AUX Cord?

The Honda Accord began as a response to consumer demand, and Honda has ever since engineered it to meet customer needs. But "meeting customer needs" doesn't always equate with "staying ahead of the curve," and such is the case with the 2000 Accord's radio.

Aux Jacks

  • In short, the Accord didn't have one this year. The only available radios for this car -- a standard cassette and an optional CD player with external CD changer -- didn't offer an auxiliary jack for external devices like MP3 players, mostly because they barely existed in the 2000 model year. If you want to connect a satellite radio or MP3 player to the Accord, you have a few options. You could replace the stock radio with a device-compatible aftermarket unit. This will net you the best sound quality.

Cheaper Options

  • If you have a cassette player, you can buy an adapter for your MP3 player that will plug into the tape deck. You can find these at any auto parts store, but the sound quality is defined by the frequency response of the tape player -- not great. Lastly, if you want to keep a bunch of wires from hanging out of the front of your radio, you can buy a car audio FM transmitter pod. These pods have the audio jacks you need, and transmit a short-range FM signal to your radio. With an FM pod, you can simply tune your radio to the transmitter's frequency, and the MP3 or CD player will play through it -- but again, you'll be limited to the radio's frequency response.
