How to Program a Keyless Entry Remote on a 95-99 Nissan Maxima

Touted as a four-door sports car, the Nissan Maxima is a stylish full-size vehicle that has been in production in the United States since 1976. Maximas produced from 1995 to 1999 are considered the vehicle's fourth generation. Fourth-generation Maximas offer an optional keyless entry feature that allows you to lock and unlock the doors of your vehicle with a small remote that is attached to your keychain.

  • Buckle yourself into the driver's side seat of your 1995 through 1999 Nissan Maxima.

  • Press the "Lock/"Unlock" button on the driver's side door to lock the doors of your Nissan Maxima.

  • Insert the key into the ignition cylinder of your Nissan Maxima and quickly remove it. Repeat this step six times within 10 seconds. The Maxima's hazard lamps will flash when you have completed this step successfully.

  • Stick the key back into the ignition cylinder. Turn the key to the "ACC" ignition position.

  • Press the "Lock" button on the keyless entry remote within five seconds to program the remote to your Nissan Maxima.

  • Turn the key to the "Off" ignition position and remove it from the ignition cylinder. Open the driver's side door of your Nissan Maxima to exit the keyless entry programming mode.
