How to Clean a Titanium Exhaust

Titanium exhaust systems are durable and have a different look than stainless steel and chrome exhaust systems. The problem with titanium exhausts is that the surface reacts to cleaners and polishes differently than the other metals. Titanium exhausts are much more expensive than stainless or chrome exhausts, so you don’t want to use the wrong cleaner and cause surface discoloration. You can use simple cleaners and materials to clean a titanium exhaust.

Things You'll Need

  • Dish liquid soap
  • Water
  • Car wash mitt
  • Aluminum polish
  • Microfiber applicator
  • Microfiber towel
  • Wash your titanium exhaust when it is completely cooled off. Use dish-washing soap and a microfiber car wash mitt to scrub the titanium. Rinse it with water and let it dry completely.

  • Apply a dime-size amount of aluminum polish to a microfiber applicator. Work the applicator over the titanium exhaust lengthways, moving along the exhaust. Let the polish dry to a light haze.

  • Buff the polish from the exhaust using a clean, dry microfiber cloth. Buff using small, circular motions.
