How to Clean Dealer Marked Numbers Off of a Car Window

Your new car runs like a dream but has a giant blind spot where the dealer marked the price on the window. Cleaning dealer-marked numbers off of your new car does not require any special tools, supplies or expertise--just a bit of your time and energy. Once you've done it, no one will know how much you overpaid for your new wheels.

Things You'll Need

  • Bucket
  • Soap
  • Sponge, non-abrasive
  • Plastic scraper
  • Nail polish remover
  • Fill your bucket with hot water--the hotter the better--and add the soap.

  • Put on waterproof/heat resistant gloves and use the sponge to wipe off the markings.

  • Use your scraper to remove any of the markings that remain. Gently hold the scraper against the window below the markings and scrape upwards, applying very little pressure against the window.

  • Apply nail polish remover to any markings that you were unable to get off in the preceding steps. Wipe the paint with the hot, soapy water immediately after applying the nail polish remover. Continue until no markings remain.
