How to Remove Residual Vinyl Lettering Adhesive From a Car

Vinyl adhesive lettering stickers are commonly used to decorate automobile exteriors. You can also use these lettering stickers to advertise your website or business. Removing these stickers is a pain since they can leave a sticky residue on your car. There are innumerable products you can use to remove this sticky residue. However, most of these products can be expensive. You can easily remove letter sticker adhesive residue using a few things you can find in your home.

Things You'll Need

  • Sponge
  • Liquid soap
  • Water-displacing spray
  • Cloth
  • Peel the vinyl lettering stickers off carefully if you have not already done so.

  • Spray a small amount of water-displacing spray such as WD-40 onto the areas with sticker residue. This will help soften the sticky residue and make it easy to remove. Use a nylon scrubber and scrub the residue off in a circular motion.

  • Rinse the area with liquid soap and water. Use a sponge to remove any remaining sticker residues. Let air dry or wipe with soft clean cloth.
