How to Remove Mold From Car Paint

Discovering mold on the surface of your car can be frustrating, but you might be surprised by how easy it is to remove mold from your car's paint. By mixing a few household ingredients with some warm water, you can clean off the mold and leave your car looking shiny and new.

Things You'll Need

  • Olive oil
  • Rags
  • Wool buffing pad
  • Mineral spirits
  • White vinegar
  • Terry cloth
  • Hose
  • Add a few drops of olive oil to a rag.

  • Rub the mold with the damp rag. This will prevent damage to the paint when you use the wool buffing pad.

  • Use the wool buffing pad to scrub the mold. Wipe vigorously in a circular motion, trying to remove as much of the mold as possible.

  • Dampen a rag with the mineral spirits then rub down the spot where the mold was with the rag. Let the mineral spirits sit for 10 seconds. Wipe the area down with a dry towel. The mineral spirits will work to kill any residual mold that did not come up with the wool buffing pad.

  • Use another rag to wipe down the area with a small amount of white vinegar. The vinegar will help to prevent the build-up of mold in the future.
