If the interior of your car needs some detailing work done, and you don't have any car cleaning supplies on hand, or you don't want to use any harsh chemicals in your car, then you can make your own homemade car interior cleaning products. You'll find that you pantry and bathroom cupboards are full of things that you can use to make your car interior look like new again. Clean out an empty spray bottle, gather together a cleaning brush and some old rags, and you're ready to tackle your car's interior.
This homemade cleaner is perfect for getting a streak-free shine on all of your glass and shiny surfaces in the interior of your car. You often get stubborn fingerprints and marks on the glass, and with a little homemade cleaner, you'll see them become a thing of the past. Mix together one cup of distilled vinegar with one cup of water and pour it into a spray bottle. Spray down all of the glass surfaces in your car, and then wipe with pieces of used, crumpled newspaper. While you might notice a faint vinegar odor, that will disappear as the cleaner dries.
If you have some tough dirt and grime on your dashboard, in your center console or in your cup holders, then you'll need a more abrasive cleaner to tackle them. Using a paste made out of baking soda and water gives you just the right balance of abrasiveness and cleaner to get rid of sticky gunk that collects in the crevices of your car. Mix a paste by placing a half cup of baking soda in a dish and adding enough water to make a consistency similar to toothpaste. Using a soft washcloth, rub it into the more stubborn areas of dirt in your car. Scrub until the dirt lifts, and then wash well with a cloth wet with clean water to remove residue.
If you have leather seats, then you can use one of the above methods for tackling both tough messes and just for a quick freshening and cleaning. However, if you have cloth seats, you should use a mild detergent to lift out stains and dirt. Try pouring one-quarter of a cup of dish detergent in a spray bottle with one cup of water. Shake well, and then spray on the affected areas to moisten. Use an upholstery brush or clean washcloth to scrub the stain, and apply more detergent if needed. Use a stiff brush on mats and carpeting. There won't be any residue left when it dries, it's gentle for all type of upholstery, and it will leave your car smelling fresh.
