A DVD touch screen is usually made from an LCD or LED display. The touch screen has a slightly tougher screen than standard touch screens, but the screen can still become scratched. A screen protector may prevent such damage. When damage occurs, however, two effective methods of repair may enable you to restore the screen.
Clean the screen with rubbing alcohol and a soft cloth to remove dirt, dust and grease.
Place a dime-size amount of petroleum jelly on the screen for each foot of screen. Rub the petroleum jelly over the entire screen for about one minute. Add additional jelly, if necessary, to fill in any additional cracks.
Wipe away the excess jelly with a soft cloth. The filled holes should no longer be visible because the petroleum jelly fills them to the same level as the rest of the screen. Take care not to wipe using too much pressure or you will remove the petroleum jelly from inside the scratches.
Squeeze LCD screen scratch-removing paste onto the DVD screen. Place about a dime-size amount for every 12 inches of screen.
Rub the paste into the screen vigorously with a soft cloth. Use heavy pressure and circular motions to rub the paste over the screen. Rub for two or three minutes.
Wipe away excess paste with another soft cloth. If necessary, repeat the application process until the screen is scratch-free.
