How to Undercoat a Truck

Owning and maintaining a high-mileage truck can be very difficult due to the fact many things may break down at once. Truck problems are not limited to just mechanical systems, but also the paint and the rubberized undercoating on the underside of the vehicle. Although you may need a mechanic to fix the mechanical problems, the undercoating is very easy to do and will only take a bit of your time.

Things You'll Need

  • Undercoating spray
  • Power washer
  • Scraper
  • Drive your truck up on ramps and set the emergency brake. This will allow you to easily access the underside of the truck.

  • Take the scraper and scrape off all the loose undercoating. Follow up with a power washer to remove the rest of the loose materiel and any caked on dirt or debris. This should leave the underside of the truck clean and ready to apply the rubberized undercoating.

  • Wait until the underside is completely dry, then spray on the undercoating evenly and thoroughly. Allow to dry completely before using.
