How to Replace Acura Rl Brake Pads

If you're looking to save a little bit of money on auto repair and auto maintenance then changing your brake pads is one way to do this. Changing the brake pads on an Acura RL yourself could save you a lot of money on repairs. You can tell the brakes on your Acura need replacing when you hear them squeaking or grinding.

Things You'll Need

  • Socket set
  • Jack and stands
  • Caliper compressor
  • Loosen the lug nuts on the wheel.

  • Raise the car on the jack and put it on the jack stands. Remove the lug nuts and remove the wheel.

  • Remove the two bolts holding the caliper in place. Once these are removed the caliper should swing back away from the rotor and allow you to slide the pads out of place. Make sure you keep the metal pad on the back of the pads.

  • Compress the cylinder with the caliper compressor so you can slide the new pads into place. Make sure you have the metal plate on the back of the pads. Once you have them in they will clip into place.

  • Drop the caliper back into place over the rotor and replace the two bolts. Replace the wheel and lower the car from the jack stands.

  • Once the car is on the ground then tighten the lug nuts and test drive the car slowly to check your work.
