Replace the Positive Crankcase Ventilation (PCV) valve on your Toyota Tacoma truck at home, with ease, and save yourself time and money. The valve is a black, plastic plug, responsible for recirculating fumes from the combustion of fuel. In this way, the valve acts as an emissions controlling device, preventing harmful pollution from entering the atmosphere from the engine. The PCV valve on the Tacoma truck is located on the top center of the engine block.
Open the Tacoma hood.
Grasp the black hose that connects to the PCV valve, and firmly pull it, to remove it.
Grasp the valve with needle-nose pliers with one prong inside the valve and one outside. Pull out the old PCV valve with a firm tug.
Push the new PCV valve into place with your hands. Reattach the black hose to the PCV valve. Make sure the hose is as far into the valve as possible. The PCV valve is now replaced.
