The Saturn Ion comes in a two or four door model with either a four cylinder or six cylinder engine. The Ion also comes with either manual locks or electronic locks on the doors. The components that control the door locks are located inside the door frame behind the outer and inner door panels. The door panel removal process is the same for all the doors on this model.
Open one of the Ion's doors and locate the screws along the edge of the door frame. Remove the screws using the Phillips screwdriver.
Pull the plastic outer door panel off the door frame slowly. Remove the screws that secure the solid plastic panel to the inside of the door frame using the screwdriver.
Pull the solid plastic door panel off the inner door frame slowly. Place the outer and inner door panels aside in a clean place. The lock will be on the inside of the metal door frame in clear view.
