How to Install Hook Type Wiper Blades

Wipers are important to drivers to aid them in road visibility. It is also one car component that easily gets worn out. Thankfully, installing wiper blades is easy, and you can pick up wiper blades that fit your car from any auto shop and install it yourself. There are different kinds of wiper blades, but the most common is the hook type wiper blade. This type of wiper blade is especially easy to install and is probably the most common wiper blade on the market.

  • Park your car in a safe location if you are on the road. Safety must always be the first priority more than anything else. Turn off the engine and engage the emergency brake.

  • Take off the old wiper blade by bending the wiper blade perpendicular to the wiper arm. Remember that the wiper arm is spring-loaded. Do not suddenly release the wiper arm; this may cause damages to your windshield. Always place the wiper arm slowly back to the windshield.

  • Choose the wiper adapter that fits your hook wiper blade. Test the adapter with your hook wiper blade. You will know that you have the correct adaptor if you hear it snap when inserted to the wiper hook. Now attach the adaptor into the wiper blade until you hear a "click" sound.

  • Turn the adaptor and place the wiper arm hook through the opening.

  • Thrust the adapter into the opening of the hook. You will know that the hook is secured once you hear a clicking sound.

  • Turn the wiper blade in line with the wiper arm and slowly put the wiper arm back against the windshield.
