How to Replace the Side Mirror on an Infinity I30

Replacing the side mirror on your Infiniti I30 is something that you can do at home, with minimal tools, and for a fraction of the cost of a dealer mechanic. Replacing the mirror on your I30 at a dealership can cost upwards of $400 after parts and labor. With just a screwdriver and a few minutes of your time, you can replace the mirror yourself---and save a considerable amount of money.

Things You'll Need

  • Flathead screwdriver or panel remover
  • Wrench
  • Phillips screwdriver

Removing the Old Mirror

  • Open the door on the side that you wish to replace the mirror.

  • Remove the black plastic panel on the corner of the window. The panel is a small, black, triangular piece that covers the access point of the mirror.

  • Remove the rubber housing that is located on the pull handle of the inside of the door. Slide a screwdriver under it and pry gently to remove.

  • Remove the plastic panel that surrounds the door handle with a flathead screwdriver. Apply gentle force, as you don't want to crack the panels.

  • Remove the two screws in the lower door panel.

  • Lift up on the interior door panel to release it from the car door.

  • Unplug the electrical connection from the mirror.

  • Remove the two nuts behind the door panel, near the mirror.

  • Pull the mirror out to remove.

Installing the New Mirror

  • Line the mirror up with the markings left by the old mirror.

  • Tighten the two nuts on the inside of the door panel.

  • Replace the electrical plug.

  • Replace the door trim by lining it up with the door, and pressing in and down at the same time. You'll hear the door click as the clips lock in place.

  • Replace the two screws in the lower door panel.

  • Press the plastic panel that surrounds the door handle in place, and push until you hear it click.

  • Replace the rubber housing around the pull handle of the door by lining it up, and pushing it into the crevice around the pull handle.

  • Replace the black plastic triangle near the mirror by pushing it into place until you hear it click.
