1999 Toyota Corolla Stereo Removal

The 1999 Toyota Corolla is a compact and fuel-efficient four-door sedan that is equipped with two speakers and an AM/FM stereo, located at the center console, in the car's interior. When installing an aftermarket radio to improve sound quality, or to upgrade to newer features like CD player, mp3 or Bluetooth capability, you first will need to remove the Corolla's factory installed stereo.

Things You'll Need

  • Cross-head screwdriver
  • Trim removal tool
  • Park the Corolla on level ground.

  • Pull out both air vents located underneath the stereo, to reveal the bolts that are attached to the top center console. Use the trim tool as needed.

  • Remove the bolts with a cross-head screwdriver, counterclockwise, and pull out the console and the stereo. On some 1999 Corolla models there may be extra screws surrounding the stereo that you will also need to remove.

  • Pull out the wiring and aerial found at the back of the stereo to completely disconnect the stereo from the Corolla.
