How to Start a Hyundai Sonata If the Remote Dies

Remote starters are very convenient, as they allow you to start your vehicle without actually being in the driver's seat. On a winter day, this is especially helpful, as you can start your Hyundai Sonata from the warmth of your home, without going outside. As you finish your breakfast, the car warms up and is ready to be driven. However, if your remote starter isn't working, you will likely have no other choice but to go outside and start the car yourself.

  • Press the button again if the car doesn't start.

  • Check the remote's battery. If it is dead, then that is a likely reason why the Sonata will not start with the remote.

  • Replace the remote's battery. If the car still doesn't start, then you've ruled out one common cause.

  • Go to your car and put the key into the ignition. If the car starts, then you know for certain that the remote starter is not working properly.

  • Drive to either a locksmith or a Hyundai dealership. Either should be able to troubleshoot why the remote starter isn't working.
