How to Replace a Sante Fe Fog Light

The Hyundai Santa Fe comes equipped with fog lights on some models. Proper fog light maintenance can keep the bulbs functioning at their best. Replace the bulbs as soon as one fails to improve your visibility in poor weather. The Santa Fe uses 881-type bulbs, which are available from auto parts stores and Hyundai dealers. Change the bulbs yourself for a sense of accomplishment and for cost savings.

Things You'll Need

  • Jack
  • Jack stands
  • Torx-head screwdrivers
  • Raise the front of your Santa Fe with a jack; support it with a set of jack stands.

  • Remove the retaining screws located on the inside of the front bumper, near the outer corner, using a Torx-head screwdriver.

  • Pull the plastic bumper out and away from the car. Reach up behind the bumper and grab the back of the bulb, located inside the fog light assembly. Turn the bulb slightly counterclockwise, then pull the bulb straight back.

  • Disconnect the wiring harness from the back of the bulb. Insert the new bulb into the fog light assembly. Push the wiring harness connection into the back of the bulb. Replace the bumper and secure it with the retaining screws.
