How to Install Engine Mounts in a Corolla

There are two engine mounts in a Toyota Corolla. These are located on the lower right and left side of the front of the engine toward the radiator. The old engine mounts need to be removed before new engine mounts can be installed. The engine mounts keep the engine from moving while the engine is running. Engine mounts are little rubber pieces that are placed between the engine and the metal frame of the engine compartment.

Things You'll Need

  • Jack
  • Jack stands
  • Ratchet set
  • New engine mounts
  • Raise the front end of the Toyota Corolla off of the ground using the jack and rest the front end on jack stands. Slide under the engine block and locate the engine mounts on the right and left side.

  • Place the jack under the engine's oil pan. Raise the engine's weight off of the engine mounts using the jack. Remove the metal bolt in the center of the right engine mount using the ratchet set. Pull the right engine mount out from between the engine and the Corolla's frame.

  • Insert the new engine mount between the engine and the Corolla's frame on the right lower side of the engine. Insert the metal bolt securing the new engine mount in place. Tighten the metal bolt using the ratchet set.

  • Remove the metal bolt from the left engine mount using the ratchet set. Pull the left engine mount out from between the engine and the Corolla's frame. Insert the new left engine mount between the engine and the frame. Insert the metal bolt securing the left engine mount to the frame and engine. Tighten the left engine mount metal bolt using the ratchet set.
