How to Change the Air Filter on a Honda Accord

The Honda Accord has a high output motor with a lot of torque and power for a mid-size car. The Honda Accord is also a popular vehicle among car enthusiast groups because of the design and reliability of its V-6 motor. Maintaining your fuel mileage and reliability on the Honda starts with a fresh air filter. A dirty air filter can affect car performance and cause the vehicle to run sluggishly and have a considerable amount of power loss. Replacing the air filter will only take a few minutes, but the end result is a smooth-running Honda.

Things You'll Need

  • Socket wrench
  • Socket set
  • New air filter
  • Open the hood to access the engine compartment. The air filter housing is located at the right end of the engine compartment.

  • Locate the four bolts holding the air housing. They will be located at the four corners of the housing.

  • Unbolt the four bolts with a socket wrench. The top of the housing will come off.

  • Pull the old air filter out of the housing. Clean out any dust or debris that may be trapped in the air filter housing. Wipe out any dust or dirt with a towel.

  • Place the new filter in the housing assembly.

  • Bolt down the top of the housing with a socket wrench. Ensure all four bolts are tight.

  • Close the hood to the engine compartment. Discard the old air filter.
