Replacing a headlight on your Volvo S80 is necessary when the filament in the bulb breaks. Purchase the replacement headlights for your S80 at most auto parts stores. Because different manufacturers use different part numbers, you will need to ask a store clerk for a replacement headlight for your model year of S80. Once you have the replacement headlight, you need to know how to properly replace the headlight so that you do not cause a premature failure of the replacement headlight.
Open the hood of your Volvo S80 and turn the cover on the back of the headlight assembly counterclockwise and pull it off.
Unplug the electrical connector from the headlight.
Pull the two spring wire holders off of the headlight with your fingers.
Pull the headlight out of the back of the housing.
Insert the new headlight and replace the spring wire holders. Then, plug the power connector back into the headlight and replace the cover.
