How to Replace the Fuel Tank Filler Neck on a 2001 Town & Country Limited

The fuel filler neck on the Chrysler Town and Country mini-van is located between the fuel tank and the fuel door. The only purpose the neck serves is to deliver the fuel from the fuel nozzle to the fuel tank. The fuel neck is ran through the frame and is easy to access once you take off the rear driver side wheel well cover. The neck has to be replaced if it punctures as it will lose fuel when you fill your gas tank.

Things You'll Need

  • Phillips-head screwdriver
  • Flat-head screwdriver
  • Open the gas filler door to access the gas cap. Unscrew the gas cap and place it to the side.

  • Loosen the three screws with a Phillips-head screwdriver. This will loosen the filler neck from the top.

  • Remove the black tabs on the forward portion of the wheel well with a flat-head screwdriver. This will give you visibility of the neck when replacing it. Take the cover out once the tabs are removed.

  • Trace the filler neck to the fuel tank. Unscrew the two hose clamps with a flat-head screwdriver. Pull the neck out of the rubber hose that is connecting it to the fuel tank.

  • Place the new neck in to the rubber hose. Tighten the hose clamps with a flat-head screwdriver.

  • Position the neck up through the frame and place the end through the gas filler door.

  • Place the cover back on to the wheel well. Push the black tabs in to the wheel well. This will secure the wheel well cover.

  • Tighten the three screws to the gas door to secure the neck at the fuel door. Use a Phillips-head screwdriver.

  • Screw the gas cap back on to the fill nozzle. Close the gas door.
