How to Remove the Front Bumper Cover of a Trailblazer SS

The Chevrolet Trailblazer SS is a mid-size SUV with a performance engine; commonly a large V8. The front bumper cover is held securely to the frame of the Trailblazer by about 10 bolts. The bolts are under the hood in the engine compartment on the right and left side of the radiator and behind the wheel wells on the right and left side of the fender. You will need to jack up the front end and remove the front tires to get to the bolts behind the wheel well.

Things You'll Need

  • Tire tool
  • Car jack
  • Jack stands
  • Screwdriver
  • Ratchet set
  • Loosen the tire nuts securing the tire to the frame of the Trailblazer using the tire tool. Raise the front end of the Trailblazer using the car jack. Lower the trailblazer onto jack stands to keep the front end off of the ground.

  • Pull the front right and left tire off of the wheel axle. Remove the plastic tabs that are holding the wheel well cover to the frame on the right and left sides by prying the securing tabs off with a screwdriver.

  • Remove the bolts that are securing the front bumper cover to the frame behind the wheel well on the right and left sides of the Trailblazer using the ratchet set.

  • Remove the bolts that are securing the front bumper cover to the frame of the Trailblazer inside the engine compartment next to the radiator and engine compartment walls using the ratchet set.

  • Pull the front bumper cover off of the frame of the Chevrolet Trailblazer.
