How to Remove a Toyota Corolla's Power Steering Pressure Line

The high-pressure line in your Toyota Corolla allows the power steering fluid to flow through the hydraulic component under high pressure. The power steering pump will not function properly with a damaged high-pressure line. Low power steering pump fluid will cause leaking and damage to the high-pressure line and to the power steering pump.

Things You'll Need

  • Line wrench
  • Jack and jack stands
  • Drain container
  • New power steering pressure line
  • Open the hood of the Toyota Corolla and remove the pulley in front of the power steering pump using a wrench. Raise the front end of the car with a jack and lower the front end onto jack stands.

  • Place a drain container under the power steering pump. Use the line wrench to remove the power steering high-pressure line from the power steering pump. Follow the line to the opposite end from underneath the car and disconnect that end using the line wrench.

  • Connect the new high-pressure line under the car in the same place as the old line was. Lead the opposite end of the line up to the bottom of the power steering pump and connect the line to the power steering pump using the line wrench.

  • Use the jack to remove the jack stand and lower the car onto the ground.
