How to Install Spectre Cold Air Intake

Cold air intakes add horsepower and offer a way of increasing vehicle efficiency by increasing the amount of cold air delivered to the engine. This increases the car's combustion and fuel economy, as well as burning gas in the combustion chamber more completely. Spectra makes a variety of cold air intakes that fit numerous vehicles and installing one of these prefabricated systems is easy.

Things You'll Need

  • Screwdriver
  • Use the screwdriver to loosen and remove the air box mounting band attaching the air box to your intake. Pull the air box free from the intake and disconnect the mounting straps holding the air box itself in the engine compartment.

  • Slide the Spectra intake tube into place, paying special attention to the routing diagram that comes with the system. As the Spectra system is tailored to your vehicle by model, it will have the most efficient way of routing the intake tube through the engine compartment.

  • Tighten the intake tube mounting strap.

  • Slide the new filter onto the intake tube's free end and secure its mounting strap. Use the provided mounting bracket hardware to secure mount the cold air filter to the engine compartment's firewall.
