How to Replace Fog Lamps on Pathfinder

The fog lights on a Nissan Pathfinder are located inside the bottom fender. They are mounted from behind the fender in a plastic cup-like assembly that can be completely removed if necessary. In most cases the fog lights on a Nissan Pathfinder just need a bulb replacement. This involves removing part of the assembly and then removing the bulb.

Things You'll Need

  • Screwdriver
  • New fog lights
  • Pliers
  • Locate the fog light assembly mounted behind the front fender on your Nissan Pathfinder.

  • Remove the top screw which connects the assembly housing for the fog light to the lower fender, using a small screwdriver. Then remove the lower screw which connects the housing to the fender with a screwdriver.

  • Pull the assembly out of the fender. Disconnect the wires from the bulb by depressing the wire clip on the fog light connector. It is square and blue.

  • Remove the bulb from the assembly by twisting it to the left and pulling it back.

  • Connect the new fog light bulbs to the blue connector. Then insert the bulb into the housing. Twist it to the right until it snaps into place.

  • Remount the fog light assembly by placing it back into the fender mount, and threading the screws back into the mounting holes. Tighten them with the screwdriver. Then test the fog lights to ensure they are working, by turning on the car and switching on both headlights.
