How to Replace the Battery in an Acura Integra

Honda launched the Acura Integra in 1986 as a sporty hatchback. A 4-door sedan was introduced in 1994. The automobile developed a loyal following until its final model year in 2001. After 2001, Honda changed the model name to the MDX. If you need to replace the battery when the car won't start, find a 12-volt battery that fits well in the space.

Things You'll Need

  • New 12-volt battery
  • Battery terminal puller
  • Wire brushes
  • Flathead screwdriver
  • Gloves
  • Socket wrench
  • Check the amperage on the current battery. Make sure to replace the battery with one of equal or higher amperage.

  • Find the battery in front of the passenger side, near the wall.

  • Remove the cover and disconnect the harness that holds the battery in place.

  • Take off the cable ends from the battery terminals with a battery terminal puller.

  • Lift the battery out of the compartment and use wire brush to clean the surface that holds the battery. Wipe off any excess acid with a damp cloth.

  • Clean the insides of the connector cables with a pointed wire brush, careful not to let any acid touch your skin.

  • Place the new battery on the shelf and reattach the cables. Tighten the cables securely with the pliers or a socket wrench. Replace the battery holder and cover.
