How to Winterize a Convertible Top

Convertible tops are fun in the summer but in winter they need some extra care if the car is still to be in use. Fabric and vinyl tops can suffer from the cold and the elements in wintery weather. The prolonged moisture from snow, impact of freezing rain and falling ice, and freezing temperatures can harm the convertible roof.

Things You'll Need

  • Car Cover
  • RaggTopp Protectant Spray
  • Cover the car when not in use. Choose a car cover that is heavy duty and can protect against both moisture from snow and impact from falling ice.

  • Keep the top clean and protected with RaggTopp or a similar brand of spray on protectant. The top should ideally be cleaned and treated once a month.

  • Do not put the top down in cold weather. If the rear window is made of plastic it can snap and break in the cold.
