Types of AC Fittings

Air conditioner (AC) fittings are used to form assemblies in air conditioning units. They can be used to attach hoses and safely carry gases. You can find them in cars and light trucks' automotive air conditioning systems, tractors, construction trucks and mobile and stationary refrigeration units. A good AC fitting should provide you with a reliable, leak-proof seal. AC fittings come with a variety of applications and are available from retailers nationwide.

AC Weld on Female O'ring Fittings

  • These fittings were created for stainless steel tubing installations. They are installed using silver soldering or welding, in locations where space is limited. Manufacturers claim the fittings provide for a cleaner installation and say, that if an installation contains an excessive amount of stainless tubing, the air conditioning system may experience up to 20 percent loss of efficiency. These fittings come in three sizes: 5/16, 3/8 and 1/2 inches.

Quick Connect Fittings

  • Designed for fast and easy installation, these push-fit fittings can be used with rigid tubing. You can use different types of tubing with quick connect fittings, including copper, soft metal and nylon. Some exceptions exist for soft or thin wall tubing, such as PVC. In this case, you can use plastic inserts to facilitate their use. You can use quick connect fittings with applications and industries such as water conditioning, ice makers, compressed air, pneumatics, beverage vendors, RO systems, misting systems, medical and dialysis, water softeners and office coffee service (OCS).

Metric Hose End Fittings

  • Manufacturers claim these fittings are easy to assemble. Constructed from 6061 alloy, these taper-socket, swivel hose ends come in a black luster anodized finish. Available in 45- and 90-degree angles, these metric fittings feature one-piece, bent-tube construction. They also have viton o-ring seals, and manufacturers say they allow 360 degree rotation and maximum fluid flow. They range in sizes from 12 mm to 30 mm in the straight metric female to AN Hose and the 45-degree and 90-degree metric to AN Hose.

1/4-inch Brass Flare End Connection Fittings

  • These flare fittings meet the highest safety standards, according to manufacturers. Furthermore, they claim these fittings can be used to replace soldering in a fast, safe and economical way. No additional sealing is needed, because this fitting only uses the metal to metal sealing by the rim on the flare of the compression ferrule. Makers add that flare fittings offer fast and secure solutions for split installations and there is no need for special flare tools.
