How to Change a Taillight on a 2007 Ford Focus SES

The 2007 Ford Focus SES uses a 4157 taillight bulb available at auto parts retailers and Ford dealerships. You can replace a burnt-out taillight bulb on your Focus at home, saving you the lost time and money spent at a service center for repairs. Check the bulbs regularly for proper function to ensure your safety on the road.

Things You'll Need

  • Phillips screwdriver
  • Open the Focus's rear hatch. Remove the Phillips screw securing the top of the assembly with a screwdriver.

  • Remove the wing nut at the bottom of the assembly. Slide the taillight assembly out of the rear of the car. Twist the bulb and socket counterclockwise. Pull the bulb straight back to remove it from the taillight assembly.

  • Remove the bulb from the socket and push the new one into place. Insert the socket into the taillight assembly then turn it clockwise.

  • Position the taillight assembly and secure it with the wing nut. Replace the Phillips screw and tighten it with a screwdriver.
