Light, superficial scratches are not as difficult to remove as deep ones. Most light scratch marks require light abrasion to wear down the area of and around the scratch. Filling the scratch and polishing the paint can restore the finish.
Wipe dirt and dust from the light scratches with a damp sponge. Dry the area with a clean rag.
Place 1 teaspoon of scratch remover compound onto a clean, damp sponge. Rub the compound onto the scratch using medium pressure. Wipe across the top of the scratch two to three times.
Wipe the remover from the scratch with a microfiber cloth and examine the affected area. If the scratch remains, rub additional scratch remover into the paint on the car using slightly deeper pressure. Continue rubbing and inspecting the scratch until it goes away.
Pour 2 tablespoons of car polishing compound onto a clean cloth and wipe into the scratch area. Rub the cloth back and forth over the scratch area, filling completely.
Pour 1 tablespoon of finishing polish on a cloth and wipe over the scratch area. Wipe until the polish almost dries. Remove the hazy finishing polish with a microfiber cloth.
