How to Reset the Time for Service in a Saab

The "Time for Service" light is a feature included on cars made by Saab from 1995 onward. This feature serves as an indication to the driver when it is 600 miles before an oil change is due. Or, if the mileage interval has not been reached, the message will appear 365 days after the last service. Typically, resetting the service light is done by the mechanic responsible for the oil change service, but you may also reset this feature yourself.

Things You'll Need

  • Saab model 1995 or newer
  • Locate the odometer on the dash panel.

  • Locate the button beneath the odometer that reads "Clear."

  • Press and hold the "Clear" button for 8 seconds. The word "Clear" will appear on the digital display after 4 seconds and the word "Service" will appear after the final 4 seconds.

  • Release the button once the "Time for Service" message has been reset.
