How to Clean Mildew from a Jayco Popup Camper

Jayco is a popular brand of camping trailer and RVs. If you are looking for a camping trailer that is smaller but can enlarge to a bigger size, you can opt for a popup camper. The popup camper has extender areas that almost double the overall size of the trailer. However, with the trailer out and exposed to condensation, it is possible for it to develop mildew. To keep the Jayco popup from deteriorating, you need to clean the mildew from the camper.

Things You'll Need

  • Spray bottle
  • Distilled white vinegar
  • Baking soda
  • Sponge
  • Hot water
  • Bucket
  • Clean cloth
  • Open up the extender areas of the Jayco popup camper. This gives you access to all of the surface area that may be harboring mildew.

  • Pour the distilled white vinegar into a spray bottle. Spray the mildew on the camper heavily with distilled white vinegar. Allow the vinegar to sit on the camper for a few moments.

  • Mix baking soda with hot water and submerge a cleaning sponge into the mixture. Scrub the mildewed area with the sponge; the baking soda and vinegar work together to loosen and remove the mildew (they also remove the musty smell).

  • Rinse off the Jayco popup camper once you have finished scrubbing it; then dry it off with a clean cloth to prevent rust or additional mildew growth.
