Headlight Removal for the Audi Allroad

The Audi Allroad is based on the Audi A6 and is terrific model that is at home on paved roads as it is on dirt roads. Headlight replacement may be necessary if the headlight glass becomes cracked or scratched. Removing the headlight is a simple procedure that requires a minimum of tools and expertise.

Locate the screws on the back of the headlight

  • The first step to removing the headlight on an Audi Allroad is to open the hood to gain access to the rear of the headlights in the engine compartment. When you have located the back of the headlight housings, remove the bulbs and the wires from the back of the housing.

Remove the screws for the housing

  • The headlight housing is held on with three screws, two on the top of the housing and one near the bottom. To remove these screws, you will need a set of torx bits, which are special star-shaped bits that fit into the screws. First, remove the two screws at the top of the headlight housing with the properly sized torx bit and a ratchet. Using the same torx bit, remove the third screw, located about 5 inches below the white headlight adjustment screw. Slide the entire headlight housing out of the car toward the front without scratching any paint.

Installation

  • Installation of the headlight is the reverse of removal. To prevent the lower screw from falling out while you install the headlight assembly, use a small piece of tape or something similar to hold the screw to the torx bit while you start the threads.
