The Oil Capacity of a 2000 Mazda 626 With a 4-Cylinder

Just two years removed from a redesign, the Mazda 626 had two engines available, with the base powerplant being a 2.0-liter four-cylinder that produced 130 horsepower. Like nearly all other modern cars, engineers spent countless hours determining what fluids were best for the 626, including the weight and amount of engine oil.

Oil Type and Capacity

  • The 2000 Mazda 626's 2.0-liter, four-cylinder engine required a total of 3.7 quarts of engine oil, including the filter. API-certified 10W-30 was the preferred oil for the 626's engine in all temperatures above -20 degrees F. If the outside temperature fell between -30 degrees F and 30 degrees F, Mazda stated that you could also use 5W-30 engine oil.
