How do I Change Oil Filters on a Ford Fusion?

Changing the oil is part of the suggested routine maintenance of your Ford Fusion, and changing the oil filter is an integral part of an oil change. The oil filter traps debris from the oil, keeping it clean and ensuring that the engine runs smoothly. If an oil filter is not changed, it will become clogged and will not filter the oil adequately, hence you should change the oil filter at every oil change.

Things You'll Need

  • Jack
  • Jack stands
  • Motorcraft Oil Filter FL-2017B
  • Cup-style oil filter wrench
  • Drain pan
  • Clean engine oil

Remove the Existing Oil Filter

  • Raise the front end of your Ford Fusion with a car jack and support it with jack stands.

  • Locate the oil filter in the front of the engine on top of the plastic splash shield. Remove the two screws (if present) and the access cover of the filter.
